Yankees-Mariners, Cinco De Mayo 2007 A Running Diary

12:30: Wake up.
12:50: Print out tickets to Yankees-Mariners game.
12:55: Roommates crack open beers and remind selves that game is at 3:55 not 1.
1ish: Realize that tickets are for yesterday's game and we will need to buy tickets from scalper.
1-3: Drink beers with Kevin, Verdi, and Billy and dip. Yeah, we were dipping. Classy.
3:00: Leave, the last song we played was Stairway to Heaven and we started at the part where Robert Plant sings, "...and as we wind on down the road..." It was sweet. I remember seeing Third Eye Blind do that during a concert and its my favorite part of the song anyway. We then walked to the subway, which is hard for me, the gimp.
3:45: Buy tickets from scalper, he wanted $40 and we negotiated down to $30.
3:55: Verdi and I realize the game is starting. Undeterred we run into a bar and chug a beer.
4:10 Make way into stadium, by the way I'm wearing a Felix Hernandez shirt and a hat I got during the M's charity golf tournament 5 years ago.
4:15: Find seats in nosebleed section of Yankee Stadium. Also find that Jeff Weaver has made it through an inning without giving up a run.
2nd inning: Drink beer from vendor. It was $8. Yankees get run.
3rd inning: Finish beer, Yankees get run.
5th inning: Uh oh, Wang is pitching a perfect game. I remind everyone sitting around me about this as well as that pitching a perfect game against a lineup with Willie Bloomquist batting second shouldn't count.
6th inning: Jeff Weaver falls apart. He had pitched well up until now.
7th inning: Yankee fans sitting around me appear very aware of what is going on an begin cheering for Wang.
7th inning: I go to bathroom, on the way back to my seat my friends got an "Asshole" chant going.
8th inning: Ben Broussard swats solo home run to end perfect game. I stand and cheer. Fans around me follow suit albeit for very different reasons.
9th inning: We lose 8-1. Darn.
